A Heuristic Method for the Reconstruction of Functional Magnetic Resonance Images

Neuro-imaging is an excellent tool to provide important diagnosis on mental pathology. Magnetic resonance(MR) image is an essential data processed in the neuro-imaging. Since the MR signal is obtained by oscillating magnetic fields in a special radio frequency region, the extraction procedure of MRI relies on complicated digital signal processing. The reconstruction of 3-D volume data from raw data is usually achieved by the trial-error phase angle correction method. In this paper a simple heuristic method is developed to find correct phase angles, which can be used for extracting spatial information from frequency encoded. The heuristic method has been implemented into an automatic procedure of the reconstruction stage. It is found that the proposed method can save the neuro-imaging analysts significant amount of time from the total analyzing
